MGiS: Training

The EPSRC grant funded the MGiS team at Heriot-Watt to provide an intensive training programme to get the pioneer teachers started, and they seemed to really enjoy what we offered them - a fast-paced two-and-a-half days to familiarise them with the various aspects of the software and our recommended approaches to learning and teaching, as well as the background theory and some cross-curricular insights.

For the later cohorts we were able to bring back teachers and pupils who were already using the software in their schools, and this first-hand experience went down a storm, especially when the children got to teach the teachers! We are extremely grateful to Richard Olyott from Easter Carmuirs PSin Falkirk Council and Hazel Lynch from Dalbeattie HSin Dumfries and Galloway, and their pupils.

The reviews we received from the teachers were quite overwhelming; here's a 'wordle' from Cohort 2 that summarises their final comments:

Unfortunately the training fund has been used up now, but the outline of the training can be viewed here: Download Making Games in Schools Residential Training Timetable  and you are very welcome to contact us to discuss the possibility of providing training for your school.
