Wouldn't you think that making games in the class would convert kids to the joys of computing? It doesn't really. In fact, it looks like it might put them off. I wanted to have that in the conclusions of this paper, but a reviewer wouldn't let me. :-)
I'm coming round to the idea that kids are very confused about what computing actually is when they start secondary school in the UK, and that as they get an more accurate idea of which it might involve, then their attitudes drop. Not really surprising, as we can't all be computer scientists.
