You know what's unfair? EPSRC's repeatedly unsucessful applicants policy which doesn't take into account successful applications where people are Co-Investigator. It makes the practice of young researchers writing applications but having to put themselves as Co-Is with grizzled researchers as PI particularly invidious. I have such a grant which I wrote the application for, and am managing but am co-I so it doesn't count as a successful application by EPSRC. Grumph.
