Cathrin has been making some example games to help the children think about storytelling and develop specific literacy skills. This is a video of the start of her game. Note the cute rabbit which becomes her friend and follows her! This was particularly popular with the pupils today. They were also impressed with the lovely landscape in her story world. Now they are working on their own conversations and storylines after discussing how she designed hers.

It's really helpful to have a few examples of what is possible within the game - it seems to give rise to many more great ideas popping up :).
Cathrin's beautiful landscape showed how different and varied the landscapes can be - from wild and barren to soft and gentle, even down to friendly bunnies. I love it!

This looks great – Really powerful stuff. You can see the obvious potential for creative writing, imagination and most importantly fun! Your project couldn’t arrive at a better time with games design featuring in the new outcomes for A Curriculum for Excellence (http://www.theherald.co.uk/news/news/display.var.2193604.0.Computer_games_design_goes_on_the_curriculum.php).

Thanks, Ollie! If you fancy using it at your school give me an email. We were part of Derek Robertson's pilot with game making in school last May, so I like to think the curriculum designers were wowed by it all. ;-)
